"Der Prinz & der Regenwald" in Kopenhagen

Über viele Wochen habe ich immer wieder über die Aktion des Prinzen of Wales hier berichtet. Heute nun bekam ich diesen Film geschickt, und könnte mir denken, das er Euch auch interessiert:

Ich muß schon sagen, er ist eine glaubwürdige Persönlichkeit, denn er lebt seine Überzeugungen ja schon sehr lange. Seine Ländereien/Landwirtschaft ist da ein gutes Beispiel.

Zur Zeit sieht es ja in Kopenhagen nicht wirklich gut aus...ob es noch gelingt ein Abkommen zu unterzeichnen?

Der Prinz und der Regenwald

Wie Ihr Lesenden ja wißt, die wunderbare Aktion von Prinz  Charles...die finde ich einfach nur gut.

Heute nun bekam ich wieder einen NewsLetter mit einem neuen Film und den neuesten Informationen:

The results are in. Drumroll, please...

Our public awareness campaign has been a huge success. Since May, there have been 1.6 billion opportunities to see the campaign message. We have had more than one million visitors to our website from 209 countries/territories and over ¼ million people sent a Rainforest SOS message.

Our campaign films have been viewed over six million times, 5,000 people recorded their own video message with the frog and we have more than 30,000 friends across four social networks.

Our Schools Programme has also engaged 620,000 pupils from 1,200 schools in rainforest learning activities.

International Forest Meeting on Interim Finance

The Prince of Wales praised governments for reaching a consensus on emergency funding to tackle tropical deforestation at a meeting held at St James's Palace last week.

The consensus comes in the form of an inter-governmental report produced this month by the Informal Working Group (IWG) comprising 35 countries that was set up after the meeting of world leaders convened by The Prince at St James's Palace in April.

Tony Juniper, Special Adviser to The Prince's Rainforests Project and former Director of Friends of the Earth hailed the report as a breakthrough: "This is the first time there has been a consensus among governments on a mechanism to deal with the underlying causes of deforestation, which are mainly economic."

At last week's meeting Brazil and Guyana provided examples of interim finance in action, while representatives from other rainforest nations including Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Indonesia also attended.

There was encouraging news from the developed nations present at the meeting. Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, indicated UK Government support for the proposals; the Norwegian Government has shown exceptional leadership by funding the two examples of interim funding provided at the meeting; and the US announced a sum of $275m to be spent predominantly on rainforests in 2010.

The PRP has also received overwhelming support from the private sector - over 300 companies have been involved and several leaders from around the world gave their insights. Moreover, many of the major environmental non-profits have made an enormous contribution to the work of the PRP, with leaders from Greenpeace, WWF, RSPB and Conservation International explaining why interim finance is so important and stating that they are ready to help ensure that such a mechanism is successful when implemented.

Neues vom Prinzen und vom Regenwald...

NEW Report from the informal Working Group

The Informal Working Group for Interim Finance for REDD (Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation) released its discussion document earlier this month. The report proposes setting up a global interim REDD+ arrangement that unites developed and developing countries' efforts around a common goal - to reduce deforestation and degradation by 25 per cent by 2015.

Its keystone would be the establishment of a results-based incentive structure. The arrangement would see a commitment from developed countries to pay those participating developing forest countries for reducing forest-based emissions. In return, the forest countries would commit to place their development paths on a low carbon trajectory.

The Informal Working Group was established following a historic meeting hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales when the G20 leaders were in London in April. The IWG stresses in this report that, "without REDD+, the goal of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 2°C above pre-industrial levels will be much harder, and substantially more expensive, to achieve."

This week, HRH The Prince of Wales will host an international forest meeting to discuss these findings and we'll share the results of that meeting with you next week.

NEW PRP VIRAL Film

We have created a new viral film to explain the relationship between climate change and rainforest destruction that conveys the urgency of finding a solution.  The film uses an airplane emergency card as its theme.

FROGS out on the town!

Interior designer, Kelly Hoppen and fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood hosted a gathering of PRP supporters on Thursday night to help raise awareness of this important issue.

Well-known faces, including artist Tracey Emin, comedian Alan Carr, and jewellery designer Stephen Webster turned up that night to join the call to action, but they were upstaged by their guests - some giant frogs.

Kelly, Vivienne, Tracey, Alan and Stephen were among ten supporters who designed Giant Frog sculptures for the project.  Other frogs came from Olivia Newton-John, JLS, Rod Stewart, Joanna Lumley and Melissa Odabash.

The PRP has just released a new online, interactive booklet that describes how rainforests are on the front line in the fight against climate change and explains how a new form of international collaboration could help to reduce tropical deforestation, with many benefits for developed and developing countries.

The book, which features beautiful photographs by Daniel Beltrá and a forward by HRH The Prince of Wales, also contains eyewitness stories from internationally-recognised figures who have already endorsed the PRP proposals, including Sir David Attenborough, Chief Almir of the Suruí tribe and Jared Diamond.

Ich habe gerade in "utopischen Gefielden" wieder mal einen kleinen Film gefunden.

Herbstfarben

Diese Bilder habe ich gestern auf einem Parkplatz gemacht. Seit vielen Jahren freue ich mich auf den Herbst, um mir dann dort die wunderbaren Farben anzusehen.  Alle Bäume explodieren regelrecht in strahlendem Rot, Goldgelb....

Nun zum ersten Mal versucht die Farben einzufangen...

Als ich darunter stand, bekam ich fast einen "FARB-Rausch"----

Der Farbwechsel von GRÜN zu BRAUNROT...

...zu GOLDBRAUN----

Bei uns hat es die ganze Nacht sehr stark geregnet...--eine kurze Pause, --so gegen 3 Uhr, ging es wieder los...

Natürlich sind wir bis auf die Haut naß geworden... (ach wie ist es schön)....das Wasser quitschte bei jedem Schritt in den Schuhen...  Bei so viel Regen hilft langfristig keine Regenkleidung... Außerdem hatten wir immer noch fast 20 Grad...das ist schon unangenehm...

Wir hatten schon zweimal Überschwemmungen hier im Haus...da komme ich bei solch starken Regenfällen nicht so recht zur Ruhe. Immer wieder gehe ich nachsehen... sicher ist sicher.

Bisher verteilen sich die Mengen noch, aber das Land ist voll bis zur Oberkannte. Und noch regnet es weiter...

Ich wünsche Euch einen etwas trockeneren Tag...                Petra

Wie man sieht, die Umgebung ist mehr als trist...Aber jetzt überstrahlen dort die Bäume in den tollsten Herbstfarben  das grau in grau ...

die Stadt Nürnberg will 3.500 Parkbänke mit Tropenholz erneuern. Für das Holz wird  Regenwald in Kamerun und der Republik Kongo massiv geschädigt.

Wir haben schon fast 14 000 Unterschriften und suchen noch dringend weitere Unterschriften da am Mittwoch den 7. Oktober der Umweltausschuss tagt.

TV- Hinweis:  Das Gift kommt zurück

Jeder fünfte Container, der im Hamburger Hafen geöffnet wird, so schätzen Experten, ist mit giftigen Substanzen belastet. Nach wie vor gibt es für Importware keine Grenzwerte für Pestizide. Zudem werden zahllose Container aus Gründen des Transportschutzes mit Nervengiften besprüht, bevor sie die Umschlaghäfen in Europa erreichen.
